Swatches: Inglot Part I

Oh, how I have missed blogging!  I didn't truly realize how much I missed it until I put up my first post in maybe 2 weeks yesterday.  Now here is a post that I have been wanting to do for ages.

This is my first ever Inglot palette, acquired way back when in December 2009 as a Christmas gift from a guy friend who is now my boyfriend (lol....yes he has always been buying me makeup).  I got this when Inglot wasn't all the rage all over the interwebz and people were going crazy over them.  Why have I never blogged about them? Because I was not blogging at that time and I wasn't sure what was the best way to present them.  Lame.

Anyways, I ordered a whole bunch more of Inglot eyeshadows when they had their Black Friday Sale, and had planned to post swatches once I have reorganized my palettes.  However, I have 3 palettes that I have received as gifts so I won't be rearranging those.

Pictures were taken in natural day light.  Here is the beauty:

All swatches are done on bare skin with one swipe of the finger.

414P is a lovely emerald green with a pearl finish.  It is essentially a very rich and pigmented metallic green.
409P is also richly pigmented.  It is a deep, bronze-y brown, one of my favorites for smoky looks.

AMC73 is not as richly pigmented as the other eyeshadows in this palette, but it is very easy to build up the intensity.  This is an interesting finish, as it is a matte purple with lots of different color shimmer.

AMC Shine 43 is a metallic bronze.

Overall, these eyeshadows are amongst my favorites because they are inexpensive, and the majority of them are soft and amazingly pigmented.  They can get a little bit powdery and produce fall out upon application, so make sure you are using a patting motion when loading up your brush with product and applying them.

At the time of purchase, these eyeshadows had 2.7 grams of product each, but with the new Inglot eyeshadows seem to vary in the amount of product now.  They retail for $5 USD ($10 CAD, I think) each and are available at Inglot free standing stores and inglotusa.com (only within the U.S!).  You may also call any store and place a phone order with them.

Hope you this is helpful to some of you who are shopping for Inglot eyeshadows!

FOTD: Quick smoky neutrals

Hello everyone!  I hope you all had a fantastic holiday full of fun, family, laughter, and all sorts of good cheer.  I apologize for the lack of posts lately.  In addition to finals and the holiday rush, I have been in Quebec since a little over a week, as I am spending the holidays with my boyfriend and his family.  I am so out of my usual routine that it has been difficult for me to get back into blogging, despite the many pictures I have taken and prepared for blog posts while I am on vacation.  For example, I fell asleep 3 nights in a row trying to get this very blog post up.

So here is a quick makeup look I threw together before Christmas as I was heading out to go shopping.  All eyeshadows used are from INGLOT, and I originally had only a bit of lipgloss on, but I stopped by the Lise Watier counter at The Bay (which is a bit like a Macy's or Nordstrom in Canada) and tried on this wonderful lip product.  I immediately fell in love with it after the MUA applied it on me and my boyfriend, being the sweetheart that he is, purchased it for me.

Swatches: NARS Danmari All About Cheek Palette

I figured I should probably get these pictures and swatches up while it's still available and while people are still doing their holiday shopping.

NARS Danmari All About Cheek Palette ($65 USD) is a limited edition palette that features 6 products (4 blushes, 1 highlighter, and 1 bronzer) including NARS's best selling blush in Orgasm.  Each product has 0.12 oz of product.  All products featured in this palette are available for purchase individually except for Hungry Heart.  Individual blushes retail at $27 USD a piece and contain 0.16 oz of product, while bronzers retail for $33 USD a piece and contain 0.28 oz of product.  Overall, getting this palette is a pretty good deal.

I first spotted this baby browsing through Sephora earlier this year in October.  I knew the Sephora Friends and Family Sale was coming up so I waited till then.  Let me tell you, it was actually kind of difficult getting my hands on this palette.  It kept getting sold out online and I literally checked everyday until it was available.  The entire palette is actually not as big as I expected it to be.

Swatches are done over bare skin and no base.  I swiped it with my finger 1-2 times.

I'm kicking myself because I still haven't actually used this palette yet.  Been too freaking busy for that.  For those of you who do own/use these blushes, do tell me what you think.  Before purchasing this palette I owned the Casino and Sin duo which I really like but don't use often enough.  Leave me a comment below!

Wow! 100 followers! Thank you everyone!

Goodness gracious it's been nearly 2 years since I have first started blogging.  I first started this blog to supplement my youtube channel, and share beauty related material more efficiently than I would ever have been able to through videos.  I never imagined what an amazing interactive community laid before me, and I have learned so much from not only all the blogs that I follow and read, but from all you amazing readers' continuous support and feedback.

Thank you everyone for sticking with me.  I've had my rough patches here and there, especially in the past 6 months or so, and it does mean a lot for me to be able to return to blogging after a hiatus and still receive amazing comments from you guys.

As I continue blogging, I hope to be able to interact with more of you guys and make new friends.  Let us bask in beauty, spending bans and sprees, colors, and everything else that makes us beauty bloggers!

FOTD: Christmas in the Asylum

The ladies of EyeGraffiti were curious to see how Sugarpill's loose eyeshadow in Asylum would look against my black hair.  The fact that the product is loose and that it's a red color is a double whammy in terms of difficulty.  Take those factors and throw in the fact that I had to use it so that I could wear this look to work.  Oh boy.

In the light of the holiday season, I decided to make it Christmas theme, but with Asylum as the dominant colors.  Here's what I came up with:

So much for work friendly makeup. Haha.

Face:
-Eve Pearl Priming Moisturizer
-Smashbox Foundation in Light 3
-L'oreal Trumatch Foundation in N6

I wasn't going to enter originally because I knew a poopload and a half of other people would be entering this contest, but yay!  I'm so glad I did =D

I will for sure be doing swatches and everything once I get the goodies.  Stay tuned!

Thanks again to Lisamarie and Christelle of BeautyCrazed for this contest!  Yayyy!!!!

Swatches: Sugarpill Loose Eyeshadows

For once, I actually have swatches up after posting a haul!  Hurray!  I should be ashamed of myself as a beauty blogger: I very strongly dislike swatching.  I hate digging my fingers, no matter how clean, into beautiful product and leaving behind finger prints and oil.  But not having swatches of the products I feature isn't very useful either so let's get on with it!

After all that ranting....I'll just say that I swatched these shadows over bare skin and no primer using a BRUSH.  LOL.

I own most of the loose eyeshadows now.  I'll start with the ones I recently acquired from the Black Friday Sale.

Goldilux: Metallic gold
Tiara: Metallic silver
Stella: Jet black with rainbow sparkle

Starling: Metallic turquoise
Asylum: Brick, almost rusty red
Tipsy: Grass green
Decora: Hot pink with green shimmer

I was a little disappointed that Asylum wasn't the scarlet red that I wanted, and that Decora wasn't as bright and blue based as I expected, but all the eyeshadows are very lovely.

Now to move on to the ones I already own.

Royal Sugar:  Bright blue with turquoise shimmer.  By far my favorite of the bunch!
Hysteric: Purple with turquoise and green shimmer.
Magpie: Blue with a black base and turquoise shimmer.
Weekender:  Blue-violet with lots of shimmer.

It feels so good to have clear, good pictures to share with you guys.  What colors do you like the most?

Haul: Sugarpill Loose Shadows

I waited alllll year for the Sugarpill Black Friday Sale.  I was expecting 20% off, but was pleasantly surprised when they offered 30% off on Black Friday.  I was so excited that I loaded up my cart a few nights before so that I could just click the checkout button on the day of.  Here are my new Sugarpill babies:

Top: Decora, Stella, Starling, Asylum
Bottom: Tipsy, Tiary, Goldilux

I would have purchased all the loose shadows and the Sweetheart palette if I could, but I had to hold myself back somehow.

I have already swatched all the eyeshadows and taken pics.  They'll be coming up really soon!

FOTD: The Bottom Half of the Rainbow

After having made a second purchase from Inglot, I had to justify my purchases somehow by actually using the eyeshadows that I already own.  I didn't have any inspiration in mind except for color, color, and more color.

Okay now that you've seen the pics, is it just me or do I look like Michelle Phan in some of these pictures?  Especially the second one.  Could be because of that closed lip smile.

Face:
-Eve Pearl Priming Moisturizer
-Smashbox Foundation in L3
-L'oreal TruMatch Foundation in N6
-Laura Mercier Setting Powder
-NARS bronzer in Laguna
-MAC Mineralize Blush in Pressed Amber
-MAC Blush in Blushbaby
-NARS Multiple in Copacabana

Eyes:
-UDPP
-NYX JEB in Lavender and Rocky Mountain Green
-Inglot eyeshadows: DS 500 (sparkly deep charcoal brown) on the outer corner, DS 482 (sparkly purple with strong blue tones) on the lid, 392M (matte muted pink) on the crease, 420P (shimmery purple toned taupe) on the inner corner, 352M (matte cream color) on the browbone, 414P (shimmery deep emerald green) on the lower lashline
-Milani Liquifeye eyeliner in Black
-Stila Smudgepot in Black
-L'oreal Extra Collagen Mascara

Lips:
-CoverGirl LipPerfection lipstick in Romance
-Stila Lipglaze in Kitten

Hmm....I piled the blush on pretty heavy but it still doesn't show up in the pictures.  I gotta keep working on that lighting.

FOTD: Naked Monroe Misfit Style

One of my favorite makeup artists in the blogging community is Monroe Misfit.  She does amazing makeup that not only enhances beauty, but is also very artistic and expressive.  Recently, she did two looks featuring the Naked palette and of course coming from her, they were absolutely gorgeous.  I purchased the Naked palette myself a few months ago and wasn't exactly blown away by it so I put it away for some time.  After reading her blog, I pulled out my dusty palette and attempted to do the second look that she featured.  My technique could certainly use some refining but I loved the way it looked!

The first two pictures are from before work, and the rest are taken after work.  I usually take pictures after work because I don't have time otherwise, but I snapped two before in to see if there was any difference.

Face:
-Eve Pearl Priming Moisturizer
-Smashbox Foundation in Light 3
-L'oreal TruMatch Foundation in N6
-Laura Mercier Setting Powder
-NARS bronzer in Laguna
-MAC Mineralize Blush in Feeling Flushed
-NARS Multiple in Copacabana

Eyes:
-UDPP
-NYX JEB in Iced Mocha
-Naked Palette: Sidecar, Virgin, Sin, Buck, Naked, Creep, Darkhorse
-Milani Liquifeye liner in Black
-L'oreal Extra Collagen Mascara

Lips:
-Stila Lipglaze in Kitten

I pretty much followed the instructions for this look on the blog, but substituted a few things like the base and the eyeliner.  I don't like to repeat looks but I can see myself wearing this one a few more times.

So silly of me to think so little of the Naked palette.  I guess it has some potential after all.  And then there's the Naked 2.......
