FOTD: Meet Me At The Deep End

Hello lovelies!

I really love it when I have time to do my makeup at my leisure.  What I love most about doing makeup is being able to play around with different colors, rather than wear makeup for functional purposes.  Of course I do both but it is a lot more fun to get creative!

As usual, I find that my everyday looks are too neutral and subdued.  I wanted to bump it up a bit for work today without going over the top.  Almost every time I say this, my look never really turns out as exciting as I want it to.  Haha.

No flash

I also do realize that my face seems a bit pale.  I'm trying out a BB Cream I recently acquired.

NOTD: Vermillionaire

It's a rare thing for me to be wearing nail polish.  As I've mentioned before, I work in food service and nail polish is a no no.  Sadly, it does not stop me from buying nail polish.  Sense this does not make.

I picked up this wonderfully, obnoxiously, bright nail polish by Essie at a local professional nail supply shop.  As always, Essie delivered opaque, fantastic quality nail polish.  Here, I am wearing two coats without a base coat or top coat.

I found that taking pictures over the bathroom sink gives me the clean white background I need.  Sort of.

Anybody else in love with Essie polishes?

Photoshoot: Urban Inspired

Hello ladies and gents~

I do apologize for the long hiatus.  My boyfriend was visiting from Quebec.  It's a long way from California so we don't tend to see each other very often.  Needless to say, I spent the majority of my time with him.  I hope you are all having a fabulous summer so far, and are enjoying it in happiness and good health.  For those of you in IMATS right now, I am extremely jealous of you.

I did some hair and makeup for a photoshoot a couple weeks ago.  I was told that the theme was urban, and the shoot would take place at an abandoned navy base.  The photographer and models do these kinds of shoots regularly for fun.  I am the only one who is looking for pictures to add to my portfolio, and had personally asked if I could join them on their adventures.  In this sense, I am a bit of the person who tags along in this group, and generally don't have much control of the setting or outfits.  I didn't join everyone on the actual shoot, so this was ever so slightly frustrating when they were turned away by a security guard at the base and decided to take pictures amongst nature.  Not exactly what I had in mind, as you will soon see from the type of makeup and hair I did.  I did manage to pick out a few that I liked, though.

There was one main photographer (Andrew Chin), but his assistant (Patrick Sing) was taking shots here and there too.  Let me know which ones you like.

A rare bit of attitude coming from Alicia.

This is my favorite shot!

I think I overdid it with the bronzer here.

Another cute engagement photo idea.

All rightey that's all I have for now.  In the process of posting this blog, my charger for my laptop decided to act up and I had to do battle with it.  It's barely working for now but hopefully I can get another post or two in before it dies/my new charger arrives.

Have a good weekend, everyone!

FOTD: Life without eyeliner...

...is no life at all.  I did this look last week and attempted to try something sort of new.  For some reason, a black based eyeshadow paired with a chocolate brown without eyeliner seemed like a really good idea in my head, but not so much upon application.  Especially with the lack of blending.  Talk about an off day.

Face:
-Laura Mercier Hydrating Primer
-Aveeno Tinted Moisturizer in Medium
-Laura Mercier Setting Powder
-NARS Laguna Bronzer
-theBalm Frat Boy Blush

Eyes:
-UDPP
-Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy
-Fyrinnae eyeshadow in Callypgian
-MAC Pro Longwear Eyeshadow in Make Your Mark
-Lancome eyeshadow in After Dusk
-Too Faced eyeshadow in Heaven
-L'oreal Waterproof Carbon Black Mascara

Lips:
-Quo lipgloss in Dreamy

I can't say this look is a success but I will tweak it (and remember to blend) and make it a success!  For now I will just rest my weary soul and drift off into dreamland.
