TAG: 40 Beauty Questions

I've been meaning to do this forever but I've been way too busy. Finals just ended yesterday so it's time to sit back, chill, and dive back into the beauty world :]

SKINCARE -
How many times do you wash your face daily?
Once. I wash my face when I shower at night. I'd wash my face in the morning too but it causes a tidal wave and the floor and area around the sink gets wet. If anyone has a solution to this problem, I'd love to hear it.

What skin type do you have? (dry, oily, combo)
Dry and oily combination. It's mainly my nose that gets ridiculously oily and the rest of my face is either normal or a tad bit dry.

What is your current facial wash?
Uhm....I have 3 lol. I use a seaweed cleanser from The Body Shop when I'm at home. I use Neutrogena's foaming face cleanser at my apartment, and when I feel like indulging, I use these Olay wipe thingies that you soak and wash and rinse your face with.

Do you exfoliate?
No, although I should huh? I have sensitive skin so I'm reluctant to try new stuff.

What brand do you use?
La la la.

What moisturizer do you use?
Either Neutrogena's intense moisture lotion with spf15 or Aveeno body lotion.

Do you have freckles?
Nope. I have hideous moles all over my face instead.

Do you use eye cream?
No. I'll get to it...

Do you or did you have acne prone skin?
Never :]

Did you ever have to use Pro-activ?
Nope.

MAKE-UP
What foundation do you use?
Smashbox ...... I don't know the full name. But my shade is L3.

How about concealer?
I use Smashbox concealer sometimes but it doesn't really work. I'm still on the hunt for a good concealer.

Do you know your undertone color?
Sadly, no.

What do you think of fake eyelashes?
I love the dramatic effect they give, but they always feel kinda heavy so I tend to avoid them.

Did you know that you are supposed to change your mascara every 3 months?
Yep. But I don't. I have yet to have a problem with old mascara. ALthough I'm sure this is a really really bad habit.

What brand of mascara do you use?
Buxom by Bare Minerals, CoverGirl LashBlast Luxe, L'oreal Telescopic for natural looks, and L'oreal Voluminous if I need to go waterproof.

Sephora or MAC?
Both have their advantages and disadvantages.

Do you have a MAC Pro-card?
Nope =( One day when I go pro perhaps :D

What makeup tools do you use in make up application?
Brushes and fingers.

Do you use make-up base/primer for the eyes?
Always. I'm mainly using UDPP right now but I think Too Faced Shadow Insurance is my fave. I've started to use colored bases to make the eyeshadow more intense.

For the face?
Not unless I'm going to be out all day long.

What is your favorite eyeshadow (color or shade)?
I LOVE color, so it is virtually impossible for me to pick a favorite =(

Do you use pencil or liquid eyeliner?
I use pencil for a messy look, liquid for a clean look, and gel for kinda in between. Lol.

How often do you poke your eyes with an eyeliner pencil?
Almost never. When I do, it's when I'm tightlining. I poke myself more often with a mascara wand ><

What do you think of pigment eyeshadows?
A little bit messy but I love the intensity.

Do you use mineral makeup?
Yep. I use mineral foundation every once in a while for a quick and natural look, and I'm experimenting with eyeshadows.

What is your favorite lipstick?
Probably Pouty Pink by ELF.

How about lipgloss?
Smashbox's Illume

What is your favorite blush to use?
My go to blush is MAC's Blushbaby. It seems to go with everything.

Do you buy your makeup on ebay?
Yep. Got my 120 Palete, 88 Matte Palette, and a crapload of gel liners.

Do you like drugstore makeup?
Oh yes. The drugstore has some great stuff.

Do you go to CCO's? (cosmetic company outlets)
I've never been to one but I'm really excited to find out that there is one about 20 min drive away from my school. When I get my car I'll be going there lots.

Did you ever consider taking make-up classes?
I'd love to. I think I'll do it within the next 10 years lol

Are you clumsy in putting on makeup?
WHen I'm in a hurry.

Name a makeup crime that you hate?
Overplucked brows, horribly smudged or over done eyeliner, too much blush, foundation that doesn't match your neck, fake tans that are orange

Do you like colorful shades of makeup (lipstick, eyeshadow) or neutral ones?
I prefer color, even in natural looks. I'll go neutral every once in a while I guess.

Which celebrity always has great make up?
Too many.

If you could leave the house using just ONE make up item, what would you use? Eyeliner

Could you ever leave the house without any makeup on?
I do it all the time.

Do you think you look good even without any makeup on?
I look normal without makeup on. I don't know if that's good or bad.

In your opinion, what is the BEST makeup line?
I think each line has strengths and weaknesses.

What do you think of Makeup??
It's fun and it's a self-esteem booster. But I don't think anyone should live off of it, you know what I mean?

5 Random Facts Tag

Photoshopped Just A Little Too Much....

So American Eagle is having a bit of sale right now that includes $10 tops (select tops only of course). I head over to http://www.ae.com and I don't find anything I like, but I did find a nauseating picture.

Really. Take a real close look at all 3 of them. Not only are they RIDICULOUSLY skinny (their legs, the Asian girl's waist) but even their hair is photoshopped! The Asian chick has an unnatural lump on the right side of her head.

No, I'm not being bitter about being fat myself. But how realistic of a representation is this of girls? What kind of image is it sending them? Definitely not a good one.

Disclaimer: I do not own the picture. I would have linked it but the picture is not going to be there when the sale ends so I borrowed it.

I avoided being sick! :D

I always get sick a few times each school term even when I thought I ate fairly balanced meals and that I was not anymore exposed to germs than I usually was. Funny thing is, it only happens when I'm at school. I almost never get sick when I'm at home where my mommy takes care of me x]. I think I had it the worst last quarter, where I got sick about 4 times consecutively. Consecutively meaning I'd get sick, and almost get better completely, but only to get sick again. Four times. Boy was it frustrating. As if school was not draining enough of my energy, I certainly did not need to get sick!

This quarter however, I haven't gotten sick once and it feels marvelous! Finals are right around the corner and I've gotten some sniffles now and then, but I've never had to pop pills to get me going. I look back at what I've done differently, and honestly it's only one thing. I've eaten significantly more fruits this quarter. At the beginning, I'd head over to Safeway to grab bags of fuji apples, which were on sale for $3/3lb bag for a while. I've gone through 3 bags of those lol. The apples towards the ends started getting kinda nasty, as if they were picked before they were ripened and yeah...pretty bad. I've also gone through a few boxes of strawberries. Store bought strawberries are always super sour or flavorless, but I figured they were still good for me. Just to let you guys know, the brighter the fruits, the better they are for you. For example, blueberries win against apples. Back to the strawberries, I'd combat their lack of sweetness by eating them with a bit of sugar. I also bought grapes at one point, and ate tons of oranges and bananas that I brought from home. I've gone through a box of Cuties clementines. I am so proud of myself.

For any other struggling college students like myself, you know that produce is expensive, especially at what I call Caucasian markets. Places like Safeway, Lucky's, Savemart, etc. I grew up getting my produce from Chinatown so naturally I'm astounded by the ridiculous price difference. Before, I'd only get my fruit from home, but there is only so much I could bring up. I guess this quarter, I've been perusing the produce aisle more frequently, and ever so often, I'd catch something on sale. All the fruits that I mentioned before that I had purchased myself, I got on sale. Sale, not as in 50 cents cheaper than the usual price, but at least 1/2 the usual price lol. For example, these strawberries I'm munching on right now are $1.50/box at Safeway. Hmm I should have looked at how heavy the box was. I want to say 1 pound. Maybe 12 ounces (16 oz = 1 lb). Beats munching on Doritos like I did two weeks ago lol. It gave me one of the most painful canker sores I've had in a while. Oh! I just realized something! I'm somewhat prone to canker sores, and I've only gotten one this quarter! Le gasp. And like I said before, that was when I ate half a bag of Doritos in one sitting. Talk about fail. Hahaha.

So the moral of this blog? Eat your fruits (and vegetables)! It really does make you feel better overall. I know we hear crap like this all the time. You got your mother nagging and your teachers nagging and now you got me nagging and you already know that fruits and veggies are good for you. Well, so did I, but the feeling of experiencing the magic for yourself--you'll feel like a changed person. So, what are you waiting for? Go get some some fruits!

(My desk is too cluttered to keep all the distractions out of the way lol)

How was your grilled cheese?

It wasn't bad for my first grilled cheese. But I've had better. You'll make me a better one someday right? lol.

Ask me anything

aww crap >.< bt seriously i dun think own any! aww well, are u into the color of pink regarding decoration in ur room and other stuff?!

I think pincstuff items are fun and colorful, and I admire how they're handmade but I think there are a lot cuter things out there. I would love to decorate my room but it seems like a lot of work, and I'm not good at it lol. If I were to do it, however, I would probably incorporate some pinks but pink would not be the primary color.

Ask me anything

i actually didn't know wt that lil girl meant by pincstuff :P i just answered her by "pink stuff" lol

lol. i think the website is pincstuff.com? A youtube beauty guru named sheryl makes her own charms from clay i think. There is stuff from doughnut earrings to frappacino charms. Lots of fun colorful stuff.

Ask me anything

do av any pincstuff's? im 9 but dis yr im 10

i do not. Mainly because I'm not too into the charms, and my friend makes that kind of stuff all the time and I get free ones hehe =)

Ask me anything

My Eyebrows

My eyebrows sure are difficult. Only in the sense that I don't quite know what to do with them. I'm a bit afraid to experience past just plucking them a bit to clean them up. The shape of them is kinda ok and they're not terribly sparse, but meh. I should probably trim them but i'm afraid that will look too weird. I was thinking about getting them professionally done but heck that will cost money that I don't really have right now (not like that usually stops me when I buy makeup). When I fill them in, they look very unnatural, but when I just leave them be when I do my makeup, it seems like something is missing. I've watched a bunch of eyebrow tutorial videos on youtube, but everyone's eyebrows are different and frame the face differently. I guess when spring break rolls around I'll have some time to figure it out and hope it turns out ok. Until then, study study study......

Stila is having a sale right now and I really want to get my hands on some of the quads. Unfortunately, I don't want to pay the $8 shipping, and there is no free shipping if you buy a certain amount of products like Sephora and Ulta does. Yargh. What to do what to do. Ironically, I'm on Project 10 Pan right now, but I've kind of given up on that. I've been stressing a lot over school lately and buying makeup helps me deal with that stress unfortunately. I'm gaining wait too because of the stress =_=

Back to review notes I guess =(

I stopped myself

It was quite a feat. Cherryculture.com is having a 20% off sale on all items until March 15th (Code: mmm2010). I had about $20 worth of stuff in there. Most of it was lip stuff and a few NYX jumbo eyeshadow pencils that i've been wanting to get but have been waiting for a 20% off sale. When I got to the checkout, I thought about it a few times, and reluctantly decided that I didn't truly need any of it. At least not now. It was mostly the money issue that was stopping me, not even my project 10 pan. Pretty bad >< Well, I'm kinda proud of myself. But right now it's 5:10pm and I still haven't started on my article. Fail.....

hey babe, its me again! i will just keep this formspring heating up til ur next video... question just came out of my mind: Would u dress to impress urself or would u dress to impress the opposite sex?

oh god. my next video xD i'm using a new editing program and i'm having some serious problems with it, so i don't know when it will be up. hopefully this weekend.

most of the time, dress to impress myself. Well, not really impress. i'm super duper self-conscious, and when i wear stuff it's to hide my fat rolls xD. but if i'm going some place where i know a cute guy will be around, i'll wear something a bit more low cut ;D

Ask me anything

So I've done it.....

I've been thinking about starting a blog for a while, but never really got into it because I figured I had my videos and I didn't have that many subscribers anyway. But with school consuming me, I don't have the time to film, edit, and upload videos as often as I'd like. For those of you who make videos on youtube, you know what I'm talking about. Especially when you're trying to get them as short as possible, it freaking takes FOREVER! After a bit of thinking, it seemed only logical for me to start a blog. That way I can talk about tidbits and upload pictures here and there, and it wouldn't take nearly as much time as filming a video would. So here I am, blogspot world. Please accept me into your realm! Lol, I'm such a dork.

So---
Finals are right around the corner, I'm supposed to be writing an article about hegemonic masculinity and why Asian men aren't deemed very masculine. And it's due today. Have I started? No way. I still have to study and blah blah blah....life is stressful.

Since this is going to be primarily a beauty blog, I should post something beauty related. As I was procrastinating, I decided to try on a lipgloss I bought a little while ago. It's by MILANI, and it's the Glitzy Glamour Gloss in 04. It has a very strong, overpowering berry smell which smells good but is way too strong. It's almost a baby pink color with a purple sheen, and I really like how it looks on my lips. My camera is super duper old and doesn't do it justice, so it won't show up as wonderful in the picture. Sadness =( My lips are pretty pigmented and my natural lip color shows through the gloss. But trust me, it's gorgeous, and I'm really loving it.

Here be them piccies:
