FOTD: Divine

I was running extremely short on time today, so here is a quick look that I threw together for class.  Of course, there's nothing like a bright lipstick to glam up an otherwise simple look, so I popped on CoverGirl Lipperfection lippie in Divine....which I lost later that day.  I'm so sad T___T

Face:
-Aveeno tinted moisturizer in medium
-Laura Mercier Setting Powder
-NYC Matte Bronzer
-MAC Blush in Blushbaby

Eyes:
-L'oreal Lineur intense liquid liner
-L'oreal Waterproof carbon black mascara

Did I say simple or what?  At least it's functional!

FOTD: Girly Girl

Today was bright and sunny and wondrous looking in terms of climate so I wanted to do something bright and fun.  I pulled out my Curacao palette yet again, and settled for a pink and purple look.  I gravitated towards purple and blue again but i was afraid of replicating the MicaBella look again.  I was okay with the end result, although I rarely wear pink so it felt a little weird.  I don't know what I have against pink, but I just don't really like wearing it too much.  These pictures were taken after a 5 hour work shift, 1 hour walk in 85 degree weather, and two hours of other random stuff.  I didn't do any touchups other than a bit of lip balm and lipstick.  The shimmery white eyeshadows faded considerably =(

Face:
-Aveeno tinted moisturizer

I fell asleep so many times typing this thing.  I better hit the sack now.....zzzzzzzzzz...

FOTD: Planet Plum

A while back I did a review on this Canada exclusive eyeshadow duo, and was very disappointed by it.  I decided to give it another whirl today and added an eyeshadow base underneath to amplify the color.  Fortunately, that was all I needed to bring out the beautiful colors of these eyeshadows.

My hair is all bound up and I look odd but at least you can see the makeup better.

Can you tell what a huge difference the base makes?  If you look at the pictures on the review post, you can see that without a primer and base, these eyeshadows are absolutely awful.  I'm just so glad I was able to make it work!

FOTD: Earthen Lady ft. Black Rose Minerals

Hello sexy people of blogger~

Here is a look from yesterday.  I was determined to use some of my lesser used cosmetics, which consist all my loose eyeshadows (mineral makeup + pigments).  I really wanted to use some of my Sugarpill stuff but settled on some Black Rose Mineral samples instead.  In case you've missed it, I bought a load of samples a while back and you can view all the swatches here.   I wanted to do something crazy and colorful but alas, I used too much brown (Earthen) and it looks very tame.  Oh well.  Other than the darker green (Were Me Out), all colors were used dry.

Bleh.  I have been very unhappy with my full face shots lately.  But I post them so that you can see the makeup.

Face:
-Aveeno Tinted Moisturizer in Medium
-Laura Mercier Setting Powder
-NYC Matte Bronzer
-Laura Geller Blush in Tropical Hues
-NARS Multiple in Copacabana

Eyes:
-MAC Painterly Paintpot
-BRM in Frost (inner corner and brow highlight), Lady (lid color), Were Me Out (Outer V), & Earthen (crease)
-Too Faced e/s in Heaven
-L'oreal Lineur Intense Liquid Liner
-L'oreal Waterproof Carbon Black Mascara

Lips:
-YSL Golden Gloss #14

I'm not sure I get the full hang of using mineral makeup yet.  But that's what practice is for right? Hopefully the next one will be better!

Thanks for stopping by, everyone!

FOTD: Curacao Madness

I have absolutely no idea what I wanted to call this look, hence the very unoriginal name.  In any case i did another look with the new Curacao palette.  I wanted to pile on the brights but somehow ended up with all jewel toned colors so that it is not over the top bright.  I also wanted to use a brown for a transition color but there is no brown in the palette.  Instead I opted for orange which looks a bit odd but not too bad.

I look stupid but at least you can see the makeup.

I decided to take advantage of the sunshine and take some pictures outside.  I figured that with swatches, they are generally photographed better outside in the sun.  I'm not sure if the outdoor FOTD pictures came out all that well in terms of being able to see the makeup better though.

Face:
-L'oreal TruMatch Foundation in N6
-Smashbox Foundation in Light 3
-Laura Mercier Setting Powder
-NYC Matte Bronzer
-Laura Geller Baked Blush in Tropical Hues
-Tarte Face Primer

FOTD: MicaBella Ad Inspired

I love MicaBella eyeshadows.  One day I'll do a review on them!  But for now I have this look for you, which has an amusing story to go with it.  I was cleaning my room and came across the MicaBella ad that I grabbed when I first made a purchase with them, and I kept it because I wanted to recreate the look eventually.  Later on in the day, I slapped on some makeup for work.  When I was done, I realized how very very similar my look was to the ad.  Funny how our unconscious works, huh?

First, let me show you the ad:

And here is the look!  Obviously it's not exact, and I did not use this picture as a reference as I applied the makeup.  It just happened.

Eyes:
-UDPP
-Sleek Curacao Palette
-Too Faced e/s in Heaven
-L'oreal Lineur Intense Liquid Liner
-L'oreal Waterproof CarbonBlack Mascara
-UD 24/7 Liner in Perversion & Oil Slick

Face:
-Aveeno Tinted Moisturizer in Medium
-Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder
-NYC Matte Bronzer
-NARS Blush in Deep Throat

Lips:
-Rimmel l/s in Airy Fairy

My face seems lighter than my body in some of the pictures but that's because of the SPF in the tinted moisturizer.  I hope you enjoyed this look!  I certainly did and was pretty sad to take it off at the end of the day.

Weeeeeee~

More work looks!

I only worked two days this week.  I would have liked to work more but maybe this is for the best for my hands.  Working always makes my eczema go wild.

In this first look, I desperately craved some color but was too afraid to go all out for work.  I used some Spellbound Cosmetics that I had recently ordered because Jerry's review on them was just too awesome to ignore.  If you're going to make an order, make sure you type in coupon code SCREAM for 30% off!  I tend to use loose eyeshadows dry because I'm a noobasaurus and have issues applying them wet.  Just an FYI.
-MAC Painterly Paintpot
-Spellbound eyeshadows in Lagoon and Shroom
-Black Rose Mineral eyeshadow in Snow
-Too Faced eyeshadow in Heaven
-Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow/Liner in Strut
-UD 24/7 Liner in Zero
-L'oreal Waterproof Carbon Black Mascara

This next look is honestly something I slapped on because I wanted to spend a bit more time chatting with my boyfriend than doing makeup.  I have been doing a shitload and a half of cleaning lately so I've been too busy to really talk to him.  It's a simple but functional look.  I know I know.  I really need some sort of lipstick cause my lips look blah.  But I really have no chance to reapply at work so I tend to lip products =/
-UDPP
-Inglot eyeshadows in 409P and AMC Shine 43
-UD 24/7 Liner in Zero and Oil Slick
-Too Faced eyeshadow in Heaven
-L'oreal Waterproof Carbon Black Mascara

I just wanted to state again that this is not going to be a permanent format for my FOTD posts.  I prefer doing one look per post, and taking pictures of the products used so you guys can actually know what to go out to look for in case you found you liked some of the products that I used.  I have to cut corners while I'm living at  my parents' place because my time and freedom here is limited despite the fact that I'm almost 23 years old.  Hurray for traditional Chinese parents.

Meanwhile, I hope the rest of you guys are doing well and having a fantastic day!

FOTD: Out with the housemates!

I went back to my apartment/university town for two days and one night to take care of some paperwork.  If things keep going like they're supposed to, I SHOULD be graduating on time.  But man it's been giving me a headache.

I did some mass cleaning at my apartment and in my room and things are looking a lot better.  I still don't have everything organized the way I like and but at least I have my own working space now!  Hopefully I'll soon be able to get back into the groove of regular posts and videos, not FOTD dumps which I am not particularly fond of.

Anyways, I went out to dinner with my housemates on both days, once to Fenton's (If you don't live in California, refer the movie UP) and once to Boiling Crab.  Yes I popped my Boiling Crab Cherry and if you haven't been there, go check it out cause it is DAMN good!  Oh my mouth is watering.  On to the looks.....

Fenton's
 -MAC Painterly Paintpot
-L'oreal HIP Duo in Showy
-Matte black from the old Too Faced Smokey Eye Collection
-UD 24/7 Liner in Zero
-L'oreal Waterproof Carbon Black Mascara

I told myself I would do something colorful for work tonight but I'm a bit short on time.  Let's see what happens lol.

Some of you mentioned that you wanted to purchase some Sleek products after I posted my Sleek haul from ebay.  For one day only, you can get free shipping with $75 purchase!  I wish I could take advantage of this myself but I can't allow myself to blow that much money on makeup at once.  In fact, I'm currently considering doing Project 10 Pan.  I hope some of you will be able to take advantage of it.  You can make a purchase at http://www.sleekmakeup.com/.  Let me know what you get!

Sleek Haul!

Sleek is a much talked about brand amongst the blogging world, and it is generally only available in the UK.  Sleek.com also ships internationally but the shipping price is quite pricey at $13.50.  I headed over to an ebay buyer as recommended by Claire and made a purchase from VanityPalace.  Apparently the prices on the Sleek products are cheaper and the service is better than that of Sleek.com's.  I can't do a comparison but my order came to California within a week of payment which is super fast!  Not even Sephora delivers that quickly.  I think in the end though I may have paid the same amount of shipping, but that's okay.  That's what happens when you try to acquire makeup from another country.  My total with shipping was about $38 USD.  Here's what I got:

Curacao palette, Pixie Pink Blush, and Santorini Blush
The flash killed the brightness of both blushes.  When I have proper lighting again and space to work,  I'll provide swatches and a review. Sigh.  That will be a while from now.  I don't even know where I put these products.  They're somewhere in the midst of my piles of boxes and things.

The Curacao palette and Santorini Blush are both limited edition so if they tickle your fancy, pick them up fast!

FOTD Picture Dump + Other News

I've got a whole lot to say about future blog posts and all that jazz but I'm going to start out with some past FOTDS.  There are four total, one of which was just for fun and the others were more work appropriate.  I'm back at my parents' house for a while so I'm having difficulty dishing out posts the way I would like to.  More on that later!

I'm really sad that my camera didn't pick up the colors the way I wanted to =/ But here is a look I did to match a vest I was wearing that day.  You can still see the rug burn on my face lol.

And these are all for work:

Now I know why people like to do this "pop of color." It's
so easy and it looks nice!

This look seems similar but it's actual more of a bridal look
with pink on the lid and brown in the crease.

And here is my go to smoky neutral look

Sorry for not having a list of products used.  I am moving things back and forth between my apartment and my parents' home and things are all over the place--including my makeup! I used mostly Inglot eyeshadows for these looks and I don't have those eyeshadows with me right now so I can't look up the names!  I didn't want to wait till I could get a hold on them before posting these looks because I've been waiting to get organized for days already and the more I wait, the more there needs to be done.  I'm just all over the place right now, and I'm sorry for the scattered brain posts.  I figured this would be better than no posts at all!

So again, I'm going to be at my parents' place for a while.  I really have no space of my own to do makeup the way I want to, so everything is going to be scattered for a while.  I won't have space to photograph things properly.  It'll be harder to record videos, and items that I used for looks, etc.  All around it will be harder to do anything that has to do with makeup.  I get enough shit at home for wearing makeup, so I will be keeping things fairly natural (and boring =/).  Again, I do apologize.

I also promised you guys my mother's backflip story.  There's actually not much to it.  Whenever my mom's back hurts, I do this thing for her where we're back to back and lock arms.  And then I bend over slowly and she lets her weight drop so that it kinda pulls on her back.  This time, however, I bent down a little too low and my mom thought it would be fun to kick her legs around.  It was a stupid move because she ended up flipping over my head.  I knelt to my knees so the fall would not be as hard, but the weight was too much and I fell on my face as well.  I turned my head to the side so that I wouldn't be hitting the floor head on with my forehead.  My mom tumbled over and was slightly shaken but not hurt.  I got the worst of it, which was not too bad save for some rug burn on my knees and left cheek.

All this moving and doing paperwork for my graduation is really exhausting me.  It kind of depresses me how I can't spend more time on my blog and with makeup, but I will do my best.  I hope all of you are otherwise doing much better.

Till next time~
