FOTD: Royalty Round 2

Maybe I have fallen in a makeup rut, but I decided to gold and purple again today because I recently did a gold look on someone else, and I feel like I don't wear a whole lot of purples. Et voila, out popped this look.  As usual, I did my makeup (and, today, hair) in class so it's slightly rushed.

-Laura Mercier Setting Powder
-NYC Matte Bronzer in Sunny
-MAC Mineralize Blush in Feeling Flushed
-NARS Multiple in Copacabana

-Too Faced e/s in Heaven
-UD 24/7 Liner in Perversion
-Milani Liquid Liner
-L'oreal Carbon Black Waterproof Mascara

My life has never been so structured, but right now I feel so lost.  I feel like even though I'm getting back into blogging, they're still empty and lack life.  I'm looking for inspiration, for something good in my life to happen. I feel like I really need it in order to keep a positive outlook, and keep my best foot forward.

I hope the rest of you are doing well, and regardless of any hardships, confusion, or concern, that you remember to smile and take life one step at a time.

Lotsa love,
Janny

FOTD: Sensation

Wheee!!!! Another post!  I woke with puffy eyes this morning because...well....just because.  I decided to actually make use of one of the many lipsticks I had by putting the emphasis of today's look on my lips as opposed to my eyes.  Marcelle (Canadian brand) lipstick in Sensation is currently one of my favorite reds.  I personally like how it looks on me, but I have had strong opinions on both sides voiced so do tell me what you think.  I won't be offended if you tell me it doesn't look that great.

Eyes:
-MAC Painterly Paintpot
-Stila e/s in Kitten
-Too Faced e/s in Silk Teddy
-Milani Liquid Liner
-UD 24/7 Liner in Perversion
-L'oreal Carbon Black Waterproof Mascara

Face:
-Aveeno Tinted Moisturizer in Medium
-Laura Mercier Setting Powder
-NYC Matte Bronzer in Sunny
-MAC Mineralze Blush in Feeling Flushed

Lips:
-Jordana lip liner in a shade I can't recall because I freaking lost it today
-Marcelle lipstick in Sensation

A friend of mine saw me putting on red lipstick and was determined to start wearing it too.  Right after class she went out and bought two lipsticks and tried them on promptly.

I've throwing on tinted moisturizer because it's fast and easy.  I really miss the coverage that my foundation gives.  I'll have to switch back when I'm pale enough again. Hahahahaa.

FOTD: Royalty

I should be ashamed of myself.  I haven't blogged for so long that I forgot how to  take proper pictures of my makeup.  Ugh.

At least I finally have a post up.  I have been so busy since school started that I actually started using a makeup bag (never had one before!) so that I could do my makeup in class, and essentially put on the same makeup everyday.  Needless to say, I hated it.  There's no love or creativity in putting on makeup for functional purposes.  During my undergrad, I hardly put on makeup for school because I didn't want to rush it, but I figured that if I didn't put on makeup in a cosmetology program, I would look like I didn't belong.  Well, I actually don't really belong there because makeup is not a big part of the program apparently and I have zero experience in hair, nails, and skincare.  Joy.

ANYWAYS~

Back to the FOTD.  This is a look from Saturday, because I would not have the time to put on something like this on a weekday when I have class.  I desperately needed some color as I have been slapping on neutrals for the past three weeks, but still had to remain presentable for work.  I settled for gold and purples, colors that remind me of my junior high school colors and royalty, hence the title.

I really hate how photography highlights the discoloration around my lips.  Fie upon thee.

Face:
-Aveeno Tinted Moisturizer in Medium
-Laura Mercier Setting Powder
-NYC Matte Bronzer in Sunny
-MAC Mineralize Blush in Feeling Flushed

Eyes:
-UDPP
-UD e/s in Oraculum, Queen, Curiouser, and Jabberwocky (from UD Alice in Wonderland BoS)
-Too Faced e/s in Heaven and Silk Teddy
-Inglot e/s in AMC 73
-UD 24/7 Liner in Perversion

Lips:
-NARS lipgloss in All Night Long

I went out to dinner with some friends Thursday night, and I didn't have time to redo my makeup.  So instead I threw on a red lipstick and ran out the door.  Aside from the red lipstick, this is what I usually wear to class. The products are not even worth mentioning.  Haha.

Like I said, plain and bland.  I am ITCHING to do something bright, fun, and totally not wearable.  Maybe I'll do that in class if I have time.  That way I can get credit for it.  Bwahahahahahaha!!!

It feels great to be blogging again. :)

Random Conversation with My Dad

Me: *testing out a liquid eyeliner on the back of my hand*
Dad: What are you testing out now?
Me: It's something you put on your eye.  But it keeps smudging on me and takes forever to dry.
Dad:  Just blow on it, and it'll dry faster.
Me: Yeah, but I can't blow on it once I put it on my eye.
Dad:  Use a blowdryer.
Me: .....

That conversation just made me giggle, and I don't know who would get a kick out of this joke more than us beauty bloggers so I just had to share this with you guys :)

Updates (or lack of): Beauty school, Korea, and blogging

Hello dearies~

I want to first apologize for the lack of updates.  I barely have time for anything including sleep since I've started school and continued working my normal part time schedule.

I haven't formally announced it, but I decided to start cosmetology courses at one of the junior colleges near my parents' home.  It was a spur of the moment thing, and honestly not planned.  My friend was taking it and convinced me to take it with her.  The class ended up being a lot longer than I expected it to be.  I have 6.5 hours of class each day plus 1 hour lunch, plus an additional 5.5 hours of work on certain days of the week.  In other words, I have 13 hour days sometimes and boy is it exhausting.  I wake up at around 6:30am every morning and don't sleep until about midnight on days that I do work.  On days that I don't work, I have to catch up on textbook work and the like.  I'm one of those people who get extremely cranky without 8 hours of sleep so this schedule makes me kind of anxious.

Ironically, being enrolled in cosmetology courses has taken me further away from the world of beauty and color and all the things that I love.  I miss blogging.  I miss my makeup.  Cosmetology courses so far has been all about nails, hair, and skincare--NOTHING about makeup which makes me so sad.  I have drawers full of makeup that have been untouched since I started class because I use the same handful of products everyday to save time and get a few extra minutes of sleep in.

Class itself is quite challenging to me.  I have never gotten a facial, never gotten my nails done, never done anything fancy to my hair so I am a COMPLETE newbie when it comes to these things.  Even though all the other girls there are freshmen, they have at least paid for those services before so that they know a thing or two about them.  I'm learning a lot but at the same time, it's so frustrating.

On a brighter note, I am taking the class with a friend, and it's always easier to overcome challenges with a partner.  I'm thinking about delaying my plans to teach abroad in Korea (I am supposed to leave in mid February and stay there for a year) so that I can finish my cosmetology major with my friend, but I'll see how things go.  I'm learning a lot, little by little.

There is so much, so so very much, that I would like to post and blog about.  Unfortunately, there simply does not seem to be enough hours in the day for everything.  I would quit my job but the money for my tuition and kit has to come from somewhere.  I hope to somehow stay connected to the beauty community here on blogger, because afterall, this is where I have really grown, shared, and developed my love for makeup.

My brain is foggy and I think I'm getting sick.  I'll leave you guys with this now, and perhaps next time I will post something much more useful.  I hope all you ladies and gents are taking good care of yourselves, and I will talk to you all very soon.

Lots of love,
Janny
