How do you interact with your readers?

I'm wondering how y'all do it, because I'm just confused.  Blogger isn't like facebook where you receive notifications from people who comment on the same blog as you do.  Granted, you CAN select that option, but you also get a flood of other people who make comments completely unrelated to yours.  I didn't want to have my email flooded with these sorts of email notifications, but that's probably something I should do so that I can communicate with everyone.  But at the same time, does everyone else click that option where you get email notifications on future comments.....AM I MAKING ANY SENSE?  Cause if they don't click that option, they won't know if you replied or not....

Let me put it this way: I comment on a lot of different blogs, but I can't always remember exactly which post I comment on so I can't always go back and look to see if that person answered.  At the same time, when I reply to somebody else, I don't know if that person knows that i'm replying to them.

So fellow bloggers--how do you do it?  Share with me your secrets!!!

Random picture of the day: I stuck my roommate's stuffed seal in my sleeping shirt and squeezed the shit out of him.  Animal abuse, I know =(  But he's ok! :D

P.S. HI DAVE. I KNOW YOU'RE READING THIS.

  1. this is a very valid point. it's kindof ungainly, but i bookmark posts I've commented on and check back a few days later. after that point it's unlikely there'll be further conversation :)

    but twitters always preferable!

  2. Wow that sounds a little tedious lol. Personally...I never go into my bookmarks. Maybe I should start. Thanks for sharing!

  3. I feel the same way! I feel so horrible when I forget, because I actually do read/care about posts/comments. For me, I sometimes re-click posts I know I've already read before bed to see if there's anything new. If there isn't, then I completely forget about it... but I still forget sometimes. -__-

  4. I understand what you mean! I have notifications for when people comment o my blog, so I always know where there is a new comment to read & reply to. As for when I comment on other blogs, I will just do my best to remember where I have commented in the past few days and check back, kind of like JC said...

  5. PS: Strut and Skinny Jeans are my two favorite Benefit Creaseless Cream eyeshadows! (I noticed it on your wishlist). I *love* using them, they are especially perfect as a base for smokey eyes, and Skinny Jeans is great with MAC's Club eyeshadow.

  6. I am exactly like u. its hard to remember where u comment. I try not to ask too many questions that i need a reply for. that way i dont have to remember too many blogs i need to check back on. some bloggers are great and will send u an email to reply. If u think of a better way let me know beacuse like u I dont want to check that little box and have my email flooded. great post!

  7. Its hard to keep track if you comment and follow a lot of people. I haven't figured a better way to interact. It's hard enough to find the time to write my own blog already.

  8. unless the person has disqus or intensedebate, which notifies me of a response to MY comment, then I just never know if they replied because I follow WAY too many blogs to go back all the time.

  9. If someone asks me a question on my blog, I just hope that they have either allowed email notifications from Intense Debate, or they remembered and checked back later. Usually I just try to remember and check back later if I've asked a question on someone else's blog. I usually forget though, unless it was an OMGIMUSTKNOWTHEANSWERRIGHTNOW burning question XD
