OOTD: Short shorts and a blazer

I will be the first to admit that I am no fashionista.  I always struggle with shopping for clothes and throwing outfits together, and it does not help that I'm picky and cheap about my clothes.  As a result, I end up wearing the same clothes and outfits.  Somebody save me!

Every once in a while, however, I surprise myself by putting together something that actually looks okay!  Perhaps I'm not so hopeless afterall!

Blazer: Suzi Chier
Top: Express
Shorts: Charlotte Russe
Watch: Roots
Earrings: F21

I wore this to a gig, where I did three updos for an Indian wedding.  Ideally, I would have liked to wear all black but as I've mentioned before, I suck at shopping and have a lot of trouble finding clothes I like.

This is my first, stand-alone, OOTD post.  Would you guys be interested in seeing more of these?

FOTD: Job hunting makeup & "OOTD"

I earned my California Cosmetology license three months ago, but I've been too chicken to apply to too many salons for fear of being rejected.  Last Friday I finally kicked myself in the butt and forced myself to print out my resume and pass them out at salons in the business district of the small town I live in.  I was going for a slightly dramatic, but neutral toned look.  The look turned out well considering I looked like a mermaid raccoon at one point (There was bright teal eyeshadow on one of the brushes I used that gave my lids a hint of green.  Then I tried to blend it out with some brown and ended up looking like a raccoon.).

Meanwhile, I was joking with a friend that I was going to wear a toga while I drop off my resumes, and quickly snapped this picture to show him.  I was laughing because he thought I meant a real toga.

There you have it.  Toga, jeggings, and bright pink bra.  For the record I wore a peacoat style jacket over it so you couldn't tell I was wearing a toga.  I chose to dress entirely in black to look professional.  But I also tried to spice it up a little so that it looked somewhat fashionable.  I'm not too good with fashion so putting together feminine looking outfits is quite a feat for me.

Well there you have it!  I hope you enjoyed my mermaid-raccoon-toga post!  I'll continue dropping off resumes in different areas so I may be doing more of these types of posts.  Those of you already in the industry, let me know if you have any tips and suggestions for me.  Thanks, guys!

Halloween 2010 [Picture Heavy!]

So this post is loooong due but I thought I'd tell you guys about my Halloween.  It wasn't too eventful but I volunteered with an organization for a children's Halloween party they were throwing.  There were games, snacks, drinks, Halloween costume contests, and all that good stuff.  I volunteered to do face painting, and I used some makeup that I never actually use.  I also drew up some templates that I didn't have time to color.  For once, I'm glad that I did not spend too much time on the templates because not very many kids showed up.  The advertising for the event didn't go too well, which is a shame because there was a lot of cool stuff.  Here are some pictures that I do have from the event.  I dressed up as a witch :D I was originally going to be a vampire but people said I looked more like a witch so *poof* that's what I became.  I wore glasses instead of my contacts because I wore them the previous night and my left eye got scratched and got kinda irritated.

Let's start with outfits and makeup....

The night before Halloween. I went to a party lol.

I got bored waiting for the kids to come to me so I added to my outfit. Yes, I forgot to lotion my legs.

Me with a cute puppy trying to escape my grasp. =(

Some pics from the end of the night.

My bling. The glove is actually a cut up pair of tights.

Nails of the night: OPI I'm with Brad.

Some flames I drew on my chest.  Didn't use a primer and they faded by the end of night.

My book of spells aka a book locket from H&M.

Jordana lip liner in Plush Plum and E.L.F. Studio lipstick in Cheerful Cherry

I look like I'm not wearing mascara because I was in such a hurry that I didn't realize my beloved tube of L'oreal Extra Collagen Mascara was empty.

My earrangsssss....

My shoes :]

My toes. Exciting, I know.
And now finally some pictures from the actual event!

Oh I love this dog. I hope everyone had a safe but fun-filled Halloween! Get Halloween candy on sale while you still can!!!
