FOTD: Comeback

Hey ladies and germs~

I've got a FOTD for you guys today!  Woohoo!  For the past couple months I've been so busy and uninspired that I've been pretty much been doing the same exact look every single day.  It had become such a habit for me that it was actually kind of difficult to break out of.

Today I had extra time to do my makeup and I really had to force myself to break outside my box.  I decided not to over think it too much and go back to a look that I know that I will like and is everything but neutral.  Those of you who have been following my blog for a while may have seen a similar look before.

Yeah, I did go back to my trusty point and shoot.  My Nikon is just too difficult to take selfies with :(

Face:
-Laura Mercier Hydrating Primer
-MUFE HD Foundation in #123
-Ben Nye Luxury Powder in Buff
-Eve Pearl Dual HD Foundation
-Maybelline Dream Mousse Blush in Deep Plum
-NARS Blush in Deep Throat
-NARS Laguna Bronzer
-NARS Multiple in Copacabana

Eyes:
-MAC Painterly Paintpot

-Sugarpill pressed eyeshadows in 2am and Tako
-Urban Decay eyeshadow in Tease and Blackout
-UD 24/7 Liners in Zero, Midnight Cowboy, and Psychadelic Sister
-Inglot Gel Liner 77
-CoverGirl 24 Hour LashBlast

Lips:
-Lancome lipstick in Rose Tempest (D/C)

I'm trying to be more inspired to do more adventurous looks.  I post pics of my go to neutral look just so you guys have something to compare to.  What say you?

May 2013 Empties

Lately, I haven't been too adventurous with my makeup, hence the lack of FOTD posts that I usually overwhelm you guys with.  I have just been sticking with products that I know won't fail me and have been especially concentrating on using up products.  While I'm sick I have been reorganizing and attempting to make order to my vanity.  In the process I have been astounded and overwhelmed at how much makeup I own. I have TONS of new and barely used products so using them up is going to be a serious battle, but I've got to try.

Anyways, let's move on to the topic of this post: May empties.  I've got a good handful of items but only one makeup product.  Mark my words I will be sure to have more next month.

1. Nivea Kiss of Smoothness Lip Care SPF 10.  This is hands down my favorite lip balm--it's like lotion for your lips!  And I totally didn't realize it had SPF until I looked up the name for this blog.  Definitely a plus.

2. Neutrogena Healthy Defense Daily Moisturizer SPF 50.  I'm trying to be really good with SPF because....I have sun/age spots on my face.  I was in shock when I first saw them because I don't go out of my way to tan and I'm still young (or so I think)!  The last thing I want to do in 10 years is spend half an hour each day concealing sun spots so I'm trying to be really good with sunscreen now.

3. Cover Girl Waterproof Lash Blast Volume Mascara.  Technically, I'm not quite finished with this mascara but I've been using it for four months and it really has to go.  Great thickening and lengthening mascara.  I already have backups.

4. Evian Facial Spray.  I bought this a few years ago because I thought it was a setting spray.  It's actually just a refresher spray and you use it when you feel hot and sweaty.  It also helps to make your makeup look more melted in if your powder is looking a little cakey.  I've just been using it for both purposes, and I have one in my kit.

5. Kenra Volume Spray Super Hold Finishing Spray.  I was in love with this product when I first purchased it at last year's CosmoProf Hairshow in San Jose, California.  I still like it but I want to try out other sprays.  Too bad I bought two giant bottles of it already when I was in love with it.

6. Kirkland Unscented Baby Wipes.  I go through tons of these.  I use them to wipe makeup or hairspray off my hands, to wipe off my face makeup before washing my face, and for wiping off my vanity when it gets dusty.

That's it for this month!  Did you guys finish a lot of stuff as well?  I love empties posts so if you made one and I missed it, feel free to link it down in the comment section below.

EDIT:  I just realized I have backups for everything listed in this post.  REALLY, Janny!?  Really!?!

Falling off the wagon and life updates

Wow.  I'm not sure what happened.  I was going strong with the blog everyday in May challenge but then I had a couple of extremely busy days and fell off the wagon completely.  A few times I tried to get back into it but then I look at the prompt and I think, "oh no....."  I think it's safe to say that I failed that mission :(

Meanwhile I had a few items worth mentioning.  I finally got my MAC pro card so I decided it would be a good idea to grab some more lipsticks for my bridal kit.  This is kind of ironic because I just lost a bridal client.  Nonetheless, new lipsticks make me happy.  Even though I'm having a hell of a hard time getting myself to cut these up and put them in a palette...

I also finally started working/training at a salon.  I've been talking to the salon owner for about two months now and it's finally happening!  I only spent two days at the shop so far because I got really sick soon after. Boo.

No clients on my first day at the salon but my trusty
mustached mannequin got her hair did.
I also kind of got suckered into buying an old, but legit, MAC eyeshadow display case.  It was more expensive than I thought it would be but I got it for a lot less than it should have been sold for.  My friend worked so hard to get the price lowered for me that I felt bad about not buying it.  I filled it up as much as I could with the MAC eyeshadows that I did own, and filled the rest up with miscellaneous eyeshadows.  Can you spot the non MAC shadows?

I'll probably put this on my station at the salon after I've been there for a couple weeks.

I'm still sick, but I took a few pictures that are blogworthy.  Hair, empties, and hopefully a lot more to come.  My brother moved back home for the summer and I've been using his room as an office for my blogging and business stuff.  So it's back to blogging on my bed!

Meanwhile, I hope you guys are healthy, happy,  and still in love with makeup.  Cheers!
